About the challenge

AR is better with friends. Shared AR creates a sense of community and engagement that solo AR and WebAR experiences simply cannot achieve. We've teamed up with the Ingress team to provide developers in this challenge assets from the game to develop your Shared AR experience. The top experiences will be selected to be in game for Agents of Ingress to experience!

What to Build

Developers will build an 8th Wall Shared AR for Web experience utilizing Ingress IP assets. 

What is Shared AR for Web

Shared AR allows you to create social and immersive AR experiences for hundreds of concurrent users that extend dwell time. It helps create a sense of community and engagement that solo AR and webAR experiences simply cannot achieve. It also has the potential to create longer and more memorable WebAR experiences, and with cross-device support, audiences can invite others to join them from any device they are on.  

 

What is Ingress

Ingress is Niantic's very first IP mobile application game. It is compromised of a global community of agents, geocachers, mappers, and cryptographers who take their adventures on foot with friends. Players join factions where they fight for the side they believe in: 1) the Enlightened and the struggle to channel XM or 2) evolve humankind or enlist in the Resistance to control XM and oppose the mysterious forces behind it. It can be referred to as a real-life "capture the flag" game or an augmented reality version of Risk on the real-world map.

 

What to Submit

  • A link to your 8th Wall featured page (Wol sample page) 
    • Must be a playable experience 
    • Include a 60-sec YouTube or Vimeo demo video in your featured page 
    • Include a detailed description of your experience 
    • Include images and gifs of your experience in action 
  • In order to submit a featured page, you'll need to create a public profile
